SALT LAKE CITY (ABC4) — An 18-year-old man is in custody after three people were shot in South Salt Lake early Sunday, Feb. 8.
Damien Marco Flores, 18, has been booked into the Salt Lake County Jail, and is facing three charges of aggravated assault resulting in serious bodily injury, three charges of felony discharge of a firearm resulting in serious bodily injury, and theft of a firearm.
According to court documents, at around 2:45 a.m. on Feb. 8, police received multiple calls regarding shots fired near 251 E Royal Garden Terrace. Officers responded to the scene and found three people, two adult males and one juvenile male, with gunshot wounds. All three were taken to local hospitals — one in critical condition.
Spent shell casing were discovered in front of the listed address and blood trails were identified leading away from the scene.
Following the shooting, detectives interviewed approximately two dozen individuals and reviewed CCTV footage from the area. It was determined that the shooting was done by one Hispanic male, approximately 18 years old, and about 5′ 5″ tall. He was said to be wearing a blue long sleeve shirt that had rhinestones and said “Spider.”
Detectives researched the suspected individual, and identified him as Flores, a documented gang member.
On Feb. 13, law enforcement confirmed that Flores was living in an apartment complex in Salt Lake City. Soon after, he was taken into custody.
Detectives also discovered that the firearm used on Feb. 8 was stolen out of the Taylorsville Police Department.
Flores is currently being held without bail in Salt Lake County Jail.
