Tiger Woods car crash history

His use of the sleep drug Ambien came into question in three previous incidents with his vehicles. After rolling his SUV in Los Angeles County in February 2021, authorities didn’t have his blood drawn to test for drugs. But experts said the evidence supported the theory that Woods was not conscious when he drove off the road, didn't brake and hit a tree before rolling over. Woods suffered broken bones in his leg but wasn't even issued a traffic citation for that incident.

In May 2017, Woods was charged with a DUI in Jupiter, Florida, after police found his Mercedes stopped on the road in the right lane with its brake lights on and the right blinker still blinking. The police report said, “Woods had extremely slow and slurred speech." A toxicology report showed he had five drugs in his system then: Vicodin, Dilaudid, Xanax, Ambien and THC.

In November 2009, Woods was behind the wheel when his Cadillac Escalade collided with a row of hedges and hit a fire hydrant and a tree before stopping outside his mansion in Windermere, Florida.

A neighbor at the scene of the 2009 incident outside of his home reported seeing Woods unconscious and snoring, according to a police report.

But the Florida Highway Patrol determined then that there “was insufficient evidence available to issue a subpoena for additional medical information that may exist in this case.”
