A smash-and-grab burglar was arrested for stealing over $5,000 worth of merchandise from a Barnes & Noble store in Manhattan Beach.

On March 7, Manhattan Beach police were called to the store at 1800 Rosecrans Avenue after the man had smashed a window to enter the shop.

Surveillance footage showed the masked burglar quickly walking behind a cashier’s desk and grabbing boxes of expensive Lego sets.

Police said the man escaped with around $5,000 worth of merchandise. Following an investigation, he was located and arrested on March 19.

Body cam footage released on March 27 showed officers entering the suspect’s apartment complex in Orange County and taking him into custody.

He was booked into the Manhattan Beach Police Department Jail. Detectives did not release his identity or booking photo.

“This arrest brings an end to a multi-county crime spree and demonstrates the commitment of our law enforcement to protecting our community,” the department said in a statement.
