Dani Olmo says Barcelona 'must change a lot of things' to win the Champions League

The Spain star knows improvements are needed.

Barcelona star Dani Olmo has been talking about his team’s hopes of landing the Champions League ahead of the round of 16.

Hansi Flick’s side secured automatic qualification to the knockout rounds, but Olmo says there is plenty of work to be done if the Catalans are to succeed in Europe in in 2025-26.

“The Champions League will be tough. We have to change a lot of things if we want to compete to win it,” he told RAC1. “This year is special. Last season we came so close… That final was snatched away from us.”

The Spain star also hit back at his critics who have said he’s too injury prone.

“I am in a good moment, but I think the best is yet to come. Physically, I am fine , I needed regularity and the sensations are good,” he added.

“It’s not that I’m bothered by people saying that I get injured a lot, but I don’t agree with that either. I’ve had injuries due to trauma, which is something I can’t control because it’s part of the sport.

“And I’ve also had some muscle injuries, especially last year, but in previous seasons I hadn’t had so many. I don’t consider myself fragile.”

Olmo has four goals and two assists in his last seven Barcelona outings in all competitions ahead of Sunday’s visit from Levante in La Liga.
