Law enforcement officers conducted an urgent search at the serviceman’s home in an attempt to save his life. He was taken to a medical facility, where doctors diagnosed acute chemical poisoning. Despite medical efforts, the man died several days later.

Prosecutors said the same woman was also tasked by Russian intelligence services with acquiring components and assembling improvised explosive devices for terrorist attacks. According to investigators, she packed the devices with metal fragments designed to maximize casualties.

One of the explosives was hidden at a location designated by her Russian handlers. It was later retrieved by another female agent and planted near the home of a Ukrainian Armed Forces veteran, who was injured in the resulting blast. That suspect was detained by law enforcement, and her case is currently under court review.

Investigators said the Kharkiv resident also manufactured two additional improvised explosive devices. One was left near her own residence, while the other was disguised as a fire extinguisher and stored inside her home. Both devices were later neutralized by authorities.

The suspect was detained and has remained in custody since March 2025.

Prosecutors have submitted an indictment to court under six articles of Ukraine’s Criminal Code, including high treason, aiding the preparation of a terrorist attack, and aiding premeditated murder committed by a group of individuals acting in collusion.

If convicted, the woman faces a potential sentence of life imprisonment.
