Hailee Steinfeld reveals the beauty trend she’s done with—and what she loves instead (exclusive)

The actress, who is pregnant with her first child, shares her favorite beauty trend and why highlighting her natural features is important.

For Hailee Steinfeld, beauty routines have become less about perfection and more about practicality—especially during a season filled with red carpets, exciting new projects, and of course, her pregnancy.

Speaking exclusively with Parade, Steinfeld opened up about the makeup trends she’s ready to leave behind, and why simplicity has become her go-to. “I love to keep things quick and simple,” she said, explaining that heavy techniques no longer fit into her everyday routine. “Contouring and baking and all of that on my own is a lot,” she added. “Anything that keeps you in there longer than you need to be is kind of a no-go for me.”

Instead, the 29-year-old gravitates toward looks that highlight what’s already there. “One thing I hope never goes away though, I’ve always loved highlighting my beauty marks,” she shared. “I think the overall thing with that is just highlighting our natural features.”

However, the Sinners actress leaned into a more dramatic take on glam at the 2026 Golden Globe Awards, pairing winged liner with a shimmering Prada gown that quickly became one of her most talked-about looks. At her first red carpet since announcing her pregnancy with husband Josh Allen, the moment felt especially meaningful. “That was a special moment for me… a different looking red carpet moment for me than I’ve ever had in the past,” Steinfeld shared.

Another special moment for the star? Her upcoming Super Bowl ad with State Farm. Steinfeld will appear alongside Keegan-Michael Key, Danny McBride, and girl group KATSEYE in an exciting commercial, which playfully reimagines Bon Jovi’s “Livin’ on a Prayer.”

“The way that this was written was so quick and witty, but so smart,” she revealed, sharing how excited she is to show her friends the new project. “This is one of those things where I will oftentimes tell my friends that I’m working on this fun secret project,” she said. “This is something that I was so excited to tell them that I couldn’t wait for them to find out what it was. And they are about to.”

The ad will premiere on Sunday, February 8 during the big game.
